In 2008, I began exploring abandoned buildings in my local area with a DSLR camera. I found the interplay of light and vegetation growing inside the decaying structures to be a fascinating subject. As I started sharing my photos, I discovered an entire subculture dedicated to exploring abandoned buildings around the world. I quickly connected with other local explorers, and together we traveled across the United States to photograph these intriguing places. Unfortunately, I’ve had to put this hobby on hold due to the nature of my full-time job. The risk of getting caught is too great, so I’ll have to wait until I retire to resume photographing urban decay.
